Boca Raton, Time to Buy! 30-year mortgage rates plunge to new record low

Average interest rates on 30-year, fixed-rate home loans fell to new historic lows this week, Freddie Mac reported Thursday.

The average 30-year fixed rate plunged to 3.66 percent, down from last week's 3.71 percent. The 30-year fixed rate loan has remained below 4 percent since December, with the exception of one week, according to Freddie Mac. Last year at this time, the average rate was at 4.5 percent.

Average interest rates on 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages also dropped this week -- to 2.95 percent, after registering at 2.98 percent last week, Freddie Mac said. Last year at this time the average rate was at 3.69 percent.
